Your backlink profile has become prevalent after the Google Panda update and has an increasing value on your website’s SEO score card. The backlink profile consists of many different variables such as the placement of backlinks, anchor text, URL, and page power. Page power can be divided into power by social signals and natural strength of the page or its placement in the website whether it is on the front page or deeply indexed. However, there are a few modifications that should be made during link building so you can make sure that the backlink profile for your website is as Panda-friendly as possible.

It is just as important to know what you should not do as it is important to know what you should do. With the current search engine algorithms, there is an increasing focus on websites having a perfect resume. This means that there are more negative effects from something bad then positive effects from something good when the two are of equal comparison. Therefore, the following five backlink profile tips for after Google Panda will be a combination of what to do and what you should avoid doing.

1. Avoid Over Optimising Your Links

The anchor text links are very valuable to your website. However, they can have major negative effects if you over optimise the links. This means that it is no longer a good idea to over-use specific keywords in your anchor text for the backlinks. Instead, you should healthily divide it up and possibly limit your main keyword to being in 25% of the anchor texts.

2. Go For Quality Over Quantity

A single backlink will not have a major effect on your search engine rankings. However, your selection of backlink will grow to create an overall profile and you want to make sure that your profile is high quality overall. Alternatively, the mid-quality backlink profiles may be used for your lower quality or throw-away keywords and then you can use the strongest backlink profiles for your targeted keyword. This will allow you to diversify your anchor text for the various links that you have without sacrificing any of the quality profiles.

3. Do Not Rely On One Type of Backlinks

Backlink profiles should be made up of many different types of backlinks. For instance, forum profile backlinks should be limited to a few percent of your backlinks overall as they do not have as much value. If you do not dilute your link types to a better ratio, then it will make your backlink profile very unappealing. You can still use lower value link types in moderation and they will help with general link diversity as well. However, make sure that there is a very small percentage of your backlink composition through lower quality links and work to create a quality ratio and diversity of link types.

4. Check Your Backlinks Periodically

It is recommended that you record and track any backlinks that are created. If for any reason an old link is low quality, then it would be a good idea to send in a removal request to Google. This will allow you to eliminate any poor quality links from affecting your overall SEO score card.

5. Updating Your Backlink Profiles

If you have an idea on your current backlink profile, then you may want to review it and make a few changes to make it better. For instance, if you used to use a lot of forum and social bookmarking backlinks then you may want to dilute them to create a healthier ratio. You could do this by obtaining a number of other types of backlinks or manually removing some of the older backlinks.

So, before I fill you in on this little secret, go to your Twitter profile, edit and add a link back to your website. Jorge Mario Bergoglio elected pope

Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, 76, from Argentina was elected as the Catholic Church's new pope Wednesday night. Thousands of Catholics gathered under umbrellas outside St. Peter's Basilica, eagerly listening to the church's 266th pontiff, who addressed the faithful from the balcony.

Dressed in white, Bergoglio, who is now the first pope from Latin America, recited the Lord's Prayer.

The new pope replaces Benedict XVI, whose surprise resignation last month prompted the 115 Roman Catholic cardinals to initiate a conclave, a Latin phrase meaning "with a key," to pick a new leader for the world's almost 2 billion Catholics.

Bergoglio, a Jesuit, is the first pope ever elected from Latin America, a region of the world with 480 million Catholics. He won the necessary two-thirds vote after only two days of the conclave. Bergoglio was archbishop of Buenos Aires, but stepped down last year.

Several other candidates were considered front runners, including Cardinal Peter Kodwo Appiah Turkson, who would have become the first African pope in modern times.

The new church leader takes over an organization many say is in crisis, from damaging allegations of internal squabbling to the cover-up and abetting of sexual abuse, though the latter issue came to light before Benedict's papacy.

Some sources say the Catholic Church in the U.S. has paid out as much as $3 billion to settle sexual abuse claims, though others estimate a billion less. At least eight U.S. Catholic dioceses declared bankruptcy protection. Benedict said in a 1998 U.S. visit that he was ashamed of the sex abuse scandal, and assured that the church would not allow pedophiles to become priests.

The Pope Emeritus also faced criticism for his role in overseeing the church's reaction to the sexual abuse crisis, as well as revelations from the "Vatileaks" incident. The pope's butler was implicated in the leaking of documents that included what Italian media first characterized as evidence of blackmail and disarray among church leaders regarding how to address growing concerns about money laundering.

Though Benedict basically dismissed those allegations as exaggerated, he remarked that the leaks and results of the ensuing investigation he commissioned had saddened him. Church outsiders have speculated that the results of Benedict's investigation may have led to his decision to resign from the papacy, a move unprecedented in six centuries.

The new pope will also face pressure to modernize the church on issues from reforming the clergy to allowing contraception. It's unclear if the cardinals will pick a pope who will change the church or a conservative leader who will remain dedicated to its current principals.
